20 ASEAN Diplomats Enjoy City Tour to Monas and Kota Tua

As many as 20 diplomats representing six out of nine ASEAN countries (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), enjoyed a city tour to Monas and the Kota Tua "Old City" area using the Transjakarta bus from City Hall, Tuesday (9/20).

Through this city tour, we want to convey to the world that Jakarta has undergone many changes

Jakarta Regional Cooperation Bureau Head, Marulina Dewi explained that the 20 diplomats who participated in the city tour came from representatives of the embassies of Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Philippines. For representatives of three ASEAN countries who were not present at today's activity were Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos.

"Through this city tour, we want to convey to the world that Jakarta has undergone many changes," she said.

According to her, those diplomats were invited to see the Phinisi People's Crossing Bridge (JPO), the MRT construction project, and the construction of the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) in Dukuh Atas. Then they toured Monas and visited the Fatahilla Museum, Wayang, and Ceramics Museum in Kota Tua.

"During the trip, they were very enthusiastic and responded positively," she stated.

She went on to say that many things that the representatives of this friendly country did not know about Jakarta. One of them was public transportation which according to them is quite comfortable, safe, and cheap.

"They plan to use public transportation in their daily activities," he concluded.
